Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
Lily

My guess would be Barkley or RLC on a season long loan depending on which one they want to ship out. Which I wouldn't be opposed to if said loan has an option to buy.

Or maybe they'll just bite the bullet and sign up Wilshere.

What I don't see happening however is big money being spent on any transfers. Their top limit for that is the 20m-25m range, and we've already had one of those this window so we'll probably need to ship a few out before another is sanctioned.

Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
It's likely his injury is quite a big part of why Argentina are struggling and all the pressure is on Messi alone, now. They have a lack of back up for Lanzini and what he offers, and he was first 11 leading up to the tournament.

If Argentina miss him, what about us?

The owners need to dig even deeper into their pockets than they would like to replace him with what needs to be a minimum of equal talent and impact.

Lucky that we've got Snodgrass to come in otherwise Diddy Dave may have had to open his wallet.

End of the road for Manu.
Its a short career (and can be cut shorter) thats why you train hard and be the best you can be or alternatively go to a club where you can sit on the bench and pick up £80 bags a week...

Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
Ironsofcanada Del Piero suffered a knee injury at the start of 1998-99 season.
He fully recovered as his CV can confirm, infact he played, scored and won after his injury as much than what he did before with his club and played with the national team more after than before.

Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
I did my cruciate (F***kin painful) around the same time as Michael Essien he wasn't able to resume where he left off, terrible for Manu I would imagine that's it for him.

"Mirror Football understands" yeah

Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
Gutted for him as it sounds and absolutely horrendous injury and you do worry about it being career ending or one that ruins him as a player even if he can play again.
Like Dean Ashton as some have mentioned.
For a player like him who relies on movement and changing direction quickly he may well never be the same again.
Even he came back he is 18 months away from being match fit so needs to be replaced like for like.
Given the cock ups of previous years we need to be doubling that £70m figure. Replacing Lanzini is £30m or so. If not more

Ashton was his ankle though wasn't it...?? Sounds same sort of injury Dev had.... yeah he came back and was a bloody good player for us but he never ever hit those heights again...

Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
Agreed, this could be his Dean Ashton moment, also on international duty.

Need at least three midfielders now and need to move on sadly, not sure where we will get another like him.

He be the same player as when he went missing in so many games for us .

And thats why even young players go for the largest and longest contracts they can get. As you never know when it can be all over.

Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
Del Piero came back eventually from a cruciate ligament rupture but in the years following he was not great (skittish even) in open play. He was never as quick and mentally or physically not willing to take a defender on one on one as much. (A lot like Payet with us, come think of it.)

His free kicks seemed to get better though.

All good wishes to Lanzini, medicine advances and every situation is different.

Agere Rossal, however I can’t imagine us finding better in the bargain bin this window

Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
Cant see him being the same player after a layoff and injury as bad as that

Mind you that might be a good thing, as he was pretty pony last season

Signing a new CAM on loan or splash the cash is a must now

Crassus 1:36 Tue Jun 26
Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
Pragmatically, all we have lost is a transfer fee and that may be covered by insurance, ought to be

He had not re-signed for a reason, as a player he was gone already

For him, it's a bastard, world stage, big move and money, now a limp and what could have been, trust that his agent had that insurance covered......

Move on

Blimey, this is Devonshire all over again. He was never really the same after his cruciate injury.

Are the "preciously" and "buikd" typos from Alan or the Mirror?

If it's the Mirror, I can only hope they've got their diagnosis are badly wrong as their spell-checking.

Is there any dispensation in the mythical FFP rules around long-term injuries to star players and having to pay to replace them?

Re: Lanzini out for 15 months?
This will effectively ruin his career, very little chance of making a full recovery if it's as bad as the Mirror say.

No news is good news.

This news is a drippingly disease ridden cunt of a news item.

Life is not fair.

All the best, Manu. So gutted for you.
